Classmates

Here’s a capsule biography for the record. After B-CC, I attended MIT for a BS in life sciences and Stanford for a Ph. D. in biochemistry, where I was one of the early inventors of recombinant DNA technology. Halfway through I married Nina, and we went to Toronto for post-doctoral work. The academic job market was dismal then, so I returned to Stanford for an MS in electrical engineering. During that time, our son Andrew was born. Ever since I worked in developing medical and scientific instrumentation, specializing in firmware and digital design at one established company and four start-ups. I retired a few years ago when the last start-up ran out of funding. Sonja and I married in 1999. Andrew went to MIT as well and married a classmate. They have two lovely daughters and a son born a little over a year ago, and we love spoiling them as grandparents. Sonja and I met at a ballroom dance class, and we enjoy traveling.
