I have many fond memories of Gil Tietz. During our elementary-school years at Lynnbrook, Gil, John Eckert, my younger brother Phil, and I met often at the Lynnbrook Recreation Center field on Newdale Road to enjoy spirited games of touch football. Many, many years later--in 1978, to be more precise--Gil and Marylou invited Rick Kramer and my family to Bethany to play in the surf and have a sumptuous meal at their beach house. Gil was one of the kindest and most-relaxed people I have ever known. I'm looking forward to being reunited with him and the rest of the class of '62 after we all have crossed the stream (to borrow an expression from ABBA).
