Susan Richardson Duty, of Mooresville, NC, passed away from a brain aneurysm at Iredell Memorial Hospital Thursday, May 13, 2010. She was the youngest of five siblings and loved growing up near the Chesapeake Bay. Having lived in DC, Maryland, Texas, and finally North Carolina, she always enjoyed the opportunity to travel. Susan originally suffered a near-fatal brain aneurysm in June of 1998. After a month in a coma and three months in rehabilitation, she returned home with only her short-term memory affected and was able to enjoy the next 12 years with her family. Susan is survived by a daughter, Mary Beth Collier and husband, David, of Mooresville; two sisters, Catherine McGinness and Joan Beatty, of Dallas, Texas; niece, Pam Freeman and husband, Eddie, of Sherrills Ford; and grandchildren, Dylan and Nathan Collier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Duty; a son, Chris Brannon; a sister, Anne Hanna; a brother, Jack Richardson; and a grandson, Ryan Collier.
