Jim and I both left BCC at the end of our junior year as his family moved to Westport, CN and mine went south to Fort Lauderdale, FL. However, we did stay in touch through snail mail and occasional calls and finally re-met just as I moved to Bethesda to begin teaching English at Herbert Hoover Jr. High while Jim headed for flight school in Pensacola. In February of 1968 we were married in St. John's Chapel at the National Cathedral, and began married life at the US Coast Guard Station in Elizabeth City, NC flying search and rescue in helicopters and coastal patrols in the HU-16 Grumman Albatross.

After our first daughter, Jennifer, was born in 1970, a year later we headed for CG Station Annette Island, AK, to await the arrival of our second daughter, Katerina in 1972. Jim decided to stay in the Coast Guard via the CG Reserve to complete that last year of college at Temple University which brought us to the Philadelphia area. Our third daughter, Elizabeth, our 'red, white and blue' model was born in 1976. Jim began a thirty year career with Amtrak as a civil engineer making many improvements in the Northeast Corridor as well as serving in the CG Reserve rising to the rank of Captain completing his 30 year career at Governor's Island, NY. I continued to teach in a variety of venues from working . Our ivy league educated daughters have grown into wonderful, independent women who have carved out very creative and fulfilling careers. Jim continued his careers with both the Coast Guard and Amtrak for thirty years, while Susan found her niche as a reading
specialist working with every grade from preschool through graduate school. Susan retired in 2004 and Jim followed 4 years later; it continues to be exhausting, exciting and memorable

We bought 17 acres of land on an abandoned fruit ranch near Zihautanejo, Mexico, where Jim finally got to build his own house. We are off the grid with solar panels supplying our electricity, a well providing water and our own microwave WIFI tower. It took several years and lots of elbow grease and just plain muscle, but our sweet little house is warm retreat with interesting friendships during January, February and March. At the same time in 2004 we purchased a 40 foot sailboat and began exploring the whole Chesapeake Bay, the Hudson River, Maine and the New England Coast and finally 5 summers in the Mediterranean Sea. Wonderful adventures and lots of memories to linger over when we get REALLY old.
In the 54 years of marriage, our family has also expanded in unimaginable ways. We are now up to 9 grandchildren four by way of our 3 daughters and their husbands and 4 Mexicans who have adopted us as their abuella and abuello. This year marks our 40th year in charming Rose Valley 11 miles outside of Philadelphia in what we feel is the best of both worlds.

Even though neither Jim nor I officially graduated from BCC, we will always be Barons at heart. We look forward to seeing some of you at the 60th Reunion!
