Mark Bjiskian died January 23, 2013, surrounded by friends and family. Mark joined the marines and was awarded the Silver Star for actions as a Hospital Corpsman Third Class during the Vietnam War. Mark held a black belt in Bando, a defensive style of martial arts whose forms and techniques are based on the movements of animals. He was active in the Izaak Walton League. Mark was the cousin of Sylvester Stallone. "Mark had those 'eyes' and mouth," says Mary Sue Nichols Tompkins. According to his friend Bob Maxwell, Mark didn't want a funeral, but expressed wishes at burial for a 21 gun salute and bugle. Services were held at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, April 22, 2013.
