I moved to Rome, Italy after the BCC graduation and pursued a bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland (first the Munich, Germany campus and then College Park, MD.) with a year also at the Chicago Loyola University's campus in Rome, Italy. U.S. Army service between 1967-69 with the 7th Infantry Division took me to South Korea following which a 1969-71 master’s degree was pursued at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC. A subsequent career in the Foreign Service with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service included assignments in Washington DC., India, Thailand, Denmark and Sweden. The regional nature of the latter two also included responsibility for Norway, Finland, Estonia and Latvia. I retired from the USDA in August 2002 and have spent much of the time since learning the digital photography workflow (Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop), converting many old slide and negative images to digital, acquiring the necessary equipment to shoot and process entirely in a digital environment and pursuing domestic U.S. opportunities in juried gallery exhibitions -- particularly in the Art League Gallery located in Old Town Alexandria's Torpedo Factory. The first of several planned photography books was published in February 2010 focusing on the "cathedral-like" quality to images shot in parts of New Mexico and Arizona. I also had the good fortune to be juried into a June 2013 Solo Show at the Art League Gallery, where a collection of images shot in Yellowstone in September 2011 will be on exhibit. Hope some who visit here will have a minute to take in http://www.photojourneysabroad.com, where a link to the photo book exists. I have been married and have two wonderful step-daughters who live with their families in Washington, DC. and Philadelphia, PA. In the past two years, I have become a grandfather on two occasions. Since my 2002 retirement, I have continued to reside in a condo purchased in the Arlington area called Fairlington that was purchased following my return from India in May 1978.
