Frank Heintz
Comments
Frank died January 24, 2018, at our home, of pancreatic cancer. As a businessman, politician, community and political activist, Frank was admired and loved for his ability to listen deeply to others, putting himself aside to focus fully on the speaker. Frank read widely, and cared passionately, about the future of the planet and of our children and grandchildren. In the last 15 years, Frank's mind turned toward the wisdom traditions of Native Americans, Christians, and Buddhists and practiced daily meditation. Three months before he died, Frank wrote these words: "May our minds be one with the deepest truth and love; may the deepest truth and love blossom in every heart, and may humankind's fear and confusion be transformed into compassion and wisdom." That was his final prayer. Frank and I met on a blind date arranged by Alice Neff, and were smitten instantly. Our marriage of 52 years gave us two children, Aron, and Adrienne, and two grandchildren, Alden and Laurel, who live two blocks from us, now me, in Charlottesville.
