I don't have a very interesting history at BCC unless you count the fact that I used to walk to school along the railroad tracts that paralled the modern Little Falls Parkway. I would climb up the railroad bank and come out on Wisconsin Avenue nest to White's Hardware. When school closed early for snow, I'd walk back while imagining myself as one of Jack London's tragic loners who might freeze to death on the way to Twenty Mile. One time I walked to school, sat outside the library waiting for it to open, only to have a custodian say, "What are you doing here?"
" Waiting for the library to open."
"The school's closed," he said. " Big snowstorm coming." It never did snow.
I had to take Latin one summer, I remember, and that was a big help in alerting me to consequences in life.
